Norwegian Trunk Lock

A Norwegian immigrant chest is a wooden trunk, often decorated with flowers and dated, which was used by emigrants to hold their belongings on their voyage to America.

This particular trunk was missing its lock, but had signs of a secondary lock (also removed) having been installed at some point. The decision was made to make a lock that likely would be similar to its original, complimenting the chest as well as allow for the lid to be latched for carrying with the top handle.
